About the position

The Executive Director will provide strategic direction and guidance for all aspects of LISC's programs and investments in Kalamazoo. This role is pivotal in raising capital and resources locally, leveraging support from National LISC, and fostering relationships with government, philanthropy, and community partners. The Executive Director is expected to champion community-based non-profit organizations as agents of positive change, ensuring that LISC's initiatives effectively address the needs of underinvested communities.

Responsibilities

  • Strategically cultivate and steward a portfolio of existing relationships with philanthropy, financial institutions, corporations, and government to grow investments.
  • Identify and cultivate new relationships with foundations and partners committed to community development in Kalamazoo.
  • Spearhead fundraising efforts to achieve a million-dollar goal for operational sustainability and programmatic outcomes.
  • Manage the leadership of the Local Advisory Board to support strategic direction and connect LISC to opportunities.
  • Oversee the growth of the Kalamazoo investment pipeline and manage LISC lending activity.
  • Manage large public-private partnerships and programs, including a Home Repair program and housing fund.
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for all aspects of LISC's programs in Kalamazoo.
  • Engage community partners to bring integrated services to targeted neighborhoods.
  • Implement a strategy for expanding workforce and economic stability.
  • Develop partnerships with public and private partners, including local and national CDFIs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years' senior management level experience in community development, real estate, and revitalization.
  • Experience in shaping affordable housing through development or lending.
  • Demonstrated ability to attract and sustain philanthropic funding.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including public speaking experience.
  • Demonstrated management experience, including staff development and financial management.
  • Proven track record in providing leadership for strategic vision implementation.
  • Ability to establish priorities that align with a strategic plan.
  • Knowledge of community development strategies and real estate resource strategies.
  • Experience building relationships with diverse populations and organizations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with policy in housing and community development funding.
  • Knowledge of economic development, including small business and workforce initiatives.
  • Fluency in using data to inform decision-making.
