About the position

The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of Beaches Go Green, an environmental education nonprofit. This role is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs, and strategic plan of the organization, ensuring its mission is fulfilled through effective management of staff, programs, fundraising, and community outreach. The Executive Director works closely with the Board of Directors to develop and implement policies, strategies, and financial plans that support the organization's goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and vision to the organization, ensuring alignment with the mission and goals.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the nonprofit, including program development, staff management, and organizational administration.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative working environment that encourages teamwork, innovation, and professional growth.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including grant writing, donor relations, corporate sponsorships, and special events.
  • Cultivate relationships with existing and potential donors, foundations, and other funding sources.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
  • Oversee financial planning, accounting, and reporting activities, ensuring compliance with nonprofit financial standards and regulations.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of all programs and services, ensuring they align with the organization's mission and goals.
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization, representing its interests to the public, media, and community stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the Board of Directors to develop and implement the organization's strategic plan.
  • Ensure the organization complies with all local, state, and federal regulations, including those related to nonprofit status, employment, and financial management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, environmental science, education, or a related field.
  • A master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in nonprofit management, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in environmental education or related fields is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff and volunteers.
  • Proven fundraising and grant-writing experience, with a track record of securing funding from diverse sources.
  • Excellent financial management skills, including budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Strong communication and public relations skills, with the ability to effectively represent the organization to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Expertise in nonprofit process improvement methodologies to streamline operations.
