About the position

The Executive Director of Safety Net Inland NW is responsible for the overall leadership, mission execution, and growth of the organization, which supports teens and young adults who have aged out of Foster Care. This role involves managing operations, expanding community engagement, securing funds, and fostering partnerships, while working closely with co-founders and the Board of Directors to align with the organization's vision and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute fundraising efforts to meet goals set by the co-founders and Board of Directors.
  • Serve as the primary ambassador for Safety Net Inland NW, representing the organization in the community, with partner agencies, and at public events.
  • Champion the mission, vision, and values of Safety Net Inland NW.
  • Manage financial operations, including handling the checking account through QuickBooks, preparing monthly balance reports, and processing payroll with cofounder approval.
  • Collect and process mail, manage accounts payable, and prepare monthly financial reports detailing expenses and income.
  • Liaise with the CPA, ensuring timely submission of financial documentation.
  • Maintain thorough records of meetings and distribute follow-up reports to attendees.
  • Represent Safety Net Inland NW at public speaking engagements when co-founders are unavailable.
  • Build relationships with local clubs and organizations to enhance community awareness and support.
  • Research and apply for grant opportunities to secure additional funding.
  • Respond to inquiries from individuals seeking support, as well as those interested in donating or volunteering, within 24 hours.
  • Coordinate warehouse visits and facilitate the delivery of household furniture and items to Foster Alumni, ensuring availability of board members for assistance.
  • Occasionally operate a U-Haul for transportation needs.
  • Engage with youth through social media to address their requests.
  • Organize and grow the Networking At Risk Kids (NARK) group to strengthen collaboration between the Foster Alumni support team and local youth.
  • Lead volunteer recruitment, training, and retention efforts.
  • Develop educational materials and provide clear guidance to volunteers.
  • Communicate opportunities for volunteers to participate in events or assist with program needs.
  • Support volunteer-led fundraising initiatives, including the planning and execution of the Annual Auction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in nonprofit management or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and other computer programs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in grant writing is essential.
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with flexibility.
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., Canva) and marketing skills.
  • Comfortable with public speaking and engaging diverse audiences.
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
  • Availability to work some nights and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to work 40+ hours per week, either from home or a designated office space in Spokane.
