Workman Publishing has an exciting new position for an Executive Editor of its Calendar and Gift program. This role is designed for a candidate who brings more than ten years of editorial and acquisition experience, particularly in managing authors, agents, and complex projects. The Executive Editor will be a vital part of one of the industry's most successful and beloved programs, reporting directly to the Associate Publisher of Workman Publishing. The primary focus of this position is to develop new business by acquiring leading brands and talent for a suite of products, overseeing the acquisition of 8-12 individual new calendar titles each year, and editing a minimum of 15 calendars annually. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in illustrated and/or gift publishing, with expertise in developing new programs and working with authors and businesses to create brand extensions. A keen eye for commerce and detail is essential. The work environment is wonderfully creative and collaborative, where the Executive Editor will regularly pitch ideas and projects, participate in discussions with the Publisher and Associate Publisher, and maintain relationships with authors and agents from whom they routinely receive submissions. The candidate should be able to articulate their taste both verbally and in writing, advocating for their projects from inception to completion.
