About the position

The Casper Star-Tribune is seeking a top editor to lead and inspire local journalism while fostering relationships with readers in Wyoming. This hands-on role involves planning and strategizing content, editing, reporting, and engaging with audiences across digital platforms and a print edition. The editor will also establish a local editorial board, lead weekly meetings, and shape the publication's voice on key issues, all while prioritizing original local reporting and sports coverage.

Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire the newsroom to grow local journalism.
• Plan and strategize content for various platforms.
• Edit articles and contribute to reporting.
• Engage with readers across digital and print media.
• Build and lead a local editorial board with community representatives.
• Conduct weekly meetings to discuss key issues.
• Shape the publication's voice on local matters.

Requirements

• Proven experience in journalism and editorial leadership.
• Strong editing and reporting skills.
• Ability to engage with the community and build relationships.
• Experience in digital content strategy and execution.
• Mentorship experience in developing journalists.
