About the position

The Executive & Medical Director at the Spartanburg Area Mental Health Center is responsible for leading the center's operations, managing resources, and ensuring the delivery of mental health services to the community. This role combines clinical leadership with administrative oversight, focusing on program development, budget management, and compliance with mental health regulations. The director will also serve as the Medical Director, overseeing medical staff and ensuring high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the Community Mental Health Center's operations, including the development of an annual Operations Plan and Quality Assurance Program.
  • Serve as the Medical Director for the Center, overseeing clinical practices and staff.
  • Prepare and manage the budget, including grant proposals and financial management.
  • Supervise key management positions such as Program Directors and Human Resources Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with personnel practices and clinical documentation requirements.
  • Facilitate community cooperation and service delivery, including public information and education activities.
  • Develop a culturally competent behavioral system of care involving advocacy groups and family members.
  • Perform special tasks as assigned by the Assistant Deputy Director.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice medicine in South Carolina.
  • Completion of a full residency (4 years) in psychiatry.
  • Three years of work experience in psychiatric programs, with two years in community mental health services.
  • Board certification in psychiatry.
