About the position

The Executive Operational Planning Director at USAA plays a crucial role in supporting senior leadership within the Life Company Chief of Staff and Shared Services Department. This position is responsible for facilitating strategic and operational planning processes, ensuring effective communication, and coordinating key deliverables to drive success in business operations. The director will work closely with executive management to interpret business operations, develop action plans, and address compliance and regulatory issues, all while maintaining a focus on the organization's mission to support U.S. military members and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates strategic and operational planning and implementation processes.
  • Leads the coordination and documentation of progress toward achievement of business goals and objectives.
  • Defines and sets objectives and content of messages for corporate communications in alignment with executive guidance.
  • Evaluates and influences the relevance of messages for intended audiences, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
  • Provides advice and guidance, negotiating approval of deliverable materials with executive management.
  • Supports management through research and analysis of internal/external business data.
  • Responsible for the development and timely submission of EC and Board/Council/Committee driven requirements.
  • Provides oversight and support to project teams for employee CoSA events and business conferences.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified and controlled.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 8 years of project/program management experience supporting senior level executives.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and work with all levels within the organization.
  • Experience developing executive level briefings for EC, CEO, and BoD deliverables.
  • Experience in Committee/Executive meeting preparation and facilitation.
  • Demonstrated capability to navigate a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • US military experience through military service or as a military spouse/domestic partner.
  • 5 or more years of Program/Project/Product Management Experience in financial services.
  • 2 or more years of experience reporting executive level deliverables regarding business performance.
  • Working experience with Life Company products/operations.
  • Prior work experience as an Executive Operational Planning Director/Manager.
