About the position

Self-Help Credit Union is seeking an Executive Staff Climate Capital to join our team in Charlotte, NC. This position is pivotal in providing executive-level project leadership for strategic initiatives related to the implementation of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund. The Executive Staff member will be responsible for managing projects that aim to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization’s operations, particularly in delivering clean energy products and services to underserved communities. The role requires a deep understanding of climate finance and clean energy, as well as a commitment to economic justice and inclusion. In this role, you will develop and implement strategic programs and projects, ensuring that they align with the organization’s goals. You will communicate with the Coordinating Committee to set project goals, define project plans, and manage both internal and external coordination of projects. Continuous analysis of project progress will be essential to ensure success and adaptability to changing conditions. You will also assess organizational effectiveness and identify solutions to address any inefficiencies. The Executive Staff member will track activities requiring the CEO's attention and provide functional expertise across the organization. You will support relationships with key partners and act as a change agent to drive economic inclusion initiatives, integrating supplier diversity into vendor management. This role is not just about project management; it’s about making a meaningful impact in the community and ensuring that all Americans, especially those most affected by the climate crisis, benefit from the transition to a sustainable economy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive level project management leadership and support for the organization.
  • Develop and implement strategic programs and projects to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Communicate with the Coordinating Committee to develop strategic program and project goals.
  • Define project plans to ensure timely delivery of all projects/programs.
  • Research and identify appropriate solutions and vendors to meet organizational needs.
  • Manage internal and external coordination of specified projects.
  • Analyze projects throughout the process to ensure continued success and applicability.
  • Assess organizational effectiveness and proactively identify solutions to address inefficiencies.
  • Track and assist in prioritizing activities requiring the CEO's attention.
  • Provide functional expertise to other areas of the organization.
  • Support relationships with key partners and provide functional guidance as appropriate.
  • Act as a change agent to drive economic inclusion initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 10 years related professional experience in finance, banking, community development, management consulting, business management, or social justice organization.
  • Master's degree in urban planning, public policy, business administration, law, or related field preferred.
  • Deep functional knowledge of climate finance and/or clean energy.
  • Strong financial analysis and analytical aptitude skills.
  • Executive level project management ability/skills.
  • Strong commitment to creating economic opportunity for traditionally underserved communities.
  • Preference for working in organizations that prioritize teamwork and collaboration.
  • Broad organizational knowledge and understanding of potential impact of change.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively in varied professional, socio-economic, and cultural contexts.
  • Highly resourceful self-starter and fast learner.
  • Ability to juggle large scale and impactful projects and work independently to meet goals and deadlines.
  • Effective in working behind the scenes and adept at using influence without authority.
