About the position

As an Executive Team Leader at Target, you will play a crucial role in creating a guest-obsessed culture that prioritizes the guest experience while delivering on store sales goals. This entry-level position is designed for individuals who are excited about leading teams in a dynamic retail environment. You will be responsible for managing a team of hourly team members and leaders, ensuring that they are trained, engaged, and equipped to provide exceptional service to our guests. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include anticipating staffing needs, developing talent, and creating a positive team culture that aligns with Target's values. You will also be involved in planning and managing the workload of your department to support business priorities and achieve sales goals. In this role, you will engage in meaningful development conversations with your team leaders, personalize recognition to reinforce critical guest service behaviors, and establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management. You will utilize business reporting and guest insights to identify opportunities for improvement and respond effectively to any negative guest experiences. Additionally, you will create scheduling plans in partnership with your team leaders based on business workload and guest traffic, ensuring that your team is prepared to meet the demands of the store. Responsibilities

  • Create a guest-obsessed culture that prioritizes the guest experience and delivers on store sales goals
  • Anticipate staffing needs, talent plan and recruit - both long and short term
  • Manage leaders to follow up on training completion, check for understanding, and provide continuous education opportunities
  • Engage in consistent and meaningful development conversations throughout the critical touch points with Team leaders
  • Personalize recognition and appreciation to reinforce critical guest service behaviors and promote a positive team and guest centric culture
  • Establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management
  • Understand business reporting and guest insights to understand, troubleshoot and follow up on opportunity areas
  • Quickly respond to any negative guest shopping experience by de-escalating the situation
  • Create a scheduling plan in partnership with your Team Leaders based off of monthly and weekly business workload and guest traffic
  • Plan, manage and follow-up on organizational and operational change
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance
  • Address store needs (emergency, regulatory visits, etc.)
  • Perform all other duties based on business needs

Requirements

  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • Ability to manage conflict, lead and hold others accountable
  • Ability to relate well with and interact with all levels of the organization
  • Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis, decision making, financial and quantitative analysis
  • Ability to learn and adapt to current technology needs
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently and with a team
