About the position

As an Executive Team Leader for General Merchandise and Food Sales at Target, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our guests have a seamless shopping experience. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about retail and have a knack for leading teams to success. You will be responsible for managing the operations of the General Merchandise and Food Sales departments, ensuring that products are well-stocked, accurately priced, and presented in a way that enhances the shopping experience. Your leadership will be crucial in driving sales growth and profitability for the store, as you will oversee a team of hourly team members and leaders, guiding them in their daily tasks and responsibilities. In this role, you will be expected to create a guest-obsessed culture, where the needs and experiences of our guests are prioritized. You will utilize your knowledge of retail business fundamentals to analyze department sales trends, manage inventory, and develop pricing and promotional strategies that align with business objectives. Your ability to plan and execute workload effectively will ensure that your team is prepared to meet the demands of the business while maintaining a high level of guest service. A typical day will involve driving total store sales, managing inbound and outbound processes, and ensuring inventory accuracy. You will also be responsible for conducting regular check-ins with your team, overseeing workload planning, and addressing any operational challenges that arise. Your leadership will foster a culture of accountability, where team members are encouraged to take ownership of their roles and contribute to the overall success of the store. Additionally, you will be expected to anticipate staffing needs and recruit talent to build a strong team that can deliver on sales goals and enhance the guest experience.

Responsibilities

  • Drive total store sales and understand your role in sales growth.
  • Manage a team that executes inbound, outbound, replenishment, inventory accuracy, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing processes for all GM areas of the store.
  • Create a guest-obsessed culture and lead your team to prioritize the guest experience.
  • Develop a strategy and utilize workload planning tools to complete all scheduled workload ensuring guest readiness.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with your team to ensure completion of tasks and workload.
  • Manage all GM backroom and sales floor areas, reviewing reporting to identify gaps and develop a plan to resolve them.
  • Oversee Team Leaders' workload planning including transitions, revisions, and sales plans for all GM areas.
  • Drive fulfillment sales by leading the Fulfillment team to fulfill each order accurately and efficiently.
  • Know and assess the competition; leverage guest insights and feedback to drive the business.
  • Plan, manage, and follow-up on organizational and operational change.
  • Develop and coach your Team Leaders to elevate the skills and expertise of the team.
  • Establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management.
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; lead the team to work in the same way and hold others accountable.

Requirements

  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity
  • Ability to manage conflict, lead, and hold others accountable
  • Ability to relate well with and interact with all levels of the organization
  • Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis, decision making, financial and quantitative analysis
  • Ability to learn and adapt to current technology needs
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
