About the position

The Executive Team Leader GM & Grocery (Assistant Manager General Merchandise and Grocery) at Target is responsible for driving total store sales and managing the General Merchandise and Food Sales teams. This role focuses on ensuring product availability, inventory accuracy, and a guest-first culture while leading a team to meet business objectives. The position requires strong leadership skills, operational expertise, and a commitment to food safety and guest service.

Responsibilities

  • Drive total store sales and understand the role in sales growth.
  • Manage Food & Beverage, food services, inbound, outbound, replenishment, inventory accuracy, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing processes for all GM areas.
  • Manage a team of experts in operations, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Enable efficient delivery to guests by leading pick, pack, and ship fulfillment work.
  • Develop a strategy and utilize workload planning tools to complete all scheduled workload.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with the team to ensure task completion.
  • Manage all GM backroom and sales floor areas, reviewing reporting to identify gaps and develop plans to resolve them.
  • Oversee GM Team Leaders' workload planning including transitions, revisions, and sales plans.
  • Drive fulfillment sales by leading the Fulfillment team to fulfill orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Drive a culture centered in food safety; train and coach the team on food safety standards.
  • Lead an efficient operation to support the sales culture.
  • Create a guest-obsessed culture that prioritizes the guest experience and meets store sales goals.
  • Assess competition and leverage guest insights to drive business objectives.
  • Work a flexible schedule that aligns with guest and business needs, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Manage a consistent experience for guests by ensuring product is in stock, fresh, and accurately priced.
  • Plan, lead, and follow-up on organizational and operational changes.
  • Develop and coach the team to elevate their skills and expertise.
  • Establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management.

Requirements

  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong interest and knowledge of the Food & Beverage business
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • Ability to manage conflict and hold others accountable
  • Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis and decision making
  • Ability to learn and adapt to current technology needs
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
