About the position

As an Executive Team Leader GM & Grocery at Target, you will play a pivotal role in managing the General Merchandise and Food Sales team, ensuring that our guests have a consistent and enjoyable shopping experience. This position requires a strong focus on operations, process efficiency, and guest service fundamentals. You will be responsible for leading a team that manages inbound and outbound processes, inventory accuracy, and the presentation of products on the sales floor. Your leadership will help create a culture that prioritizes guest satisfaction and drives sales growth across all departments. In this role, you will oversee the Food & Beverage and Food Service areas, ensuring that all products are fresh, food safe, and accurately priced. You will also be responsible for managing the team’s workload, conducting regular check-ins, and developing strategies to meet business priorities. Your ability to analyze sales trends and guest shopping patterns will be crucial in driving profitability and ensuring that your team meets its sales goals. You will be expected to create a guest-obsessed culture, leveraging insights from guest feedback to enhance the shopping experience. This includes managing the fulfillment team to ensure accurate and efficient order processing. Additionally, you will lead training initiatives to ensure compliance with food safety standards and operational procedures. Your role will also involve planning and executing organizational changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness in store operations. The Executive Team Leader GM & Grocery position is dynamic and requires flexibility in scheduling, including early mornings, evenings, overnight shifts, and weekends. You will be a key carrier, responsible for following safety and security protocols, and addressing any store needs that arise. This position is not just about managing tasks; it’s about inspiring your team and fostering a positive work environment that aligns with Target’s values and culture.

Responsibilities

  • Drive total store sales and understand your role in sales growth.
  • Manage Food & Beverage, food services, inbound, outbound, replenishment, inventory accuracy, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing processes for all GM areas of the store.
  • Manage a team of experts in operations, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Enable efficient delivery to guests by leading pick, pack, and ship fulfillment work.
  • Develop a strategy and utilize workload planning tools to complete all scheduled workload ensuring guest readiness at all times.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with your team to ensure completion of tasks and workload.
  • Manage all GM backroom and sales floor areas, reviewing reporting to identify gaps and develop a plan to resolve them.
  • Oversee GM Team Leaders' workload planning including transitions, revisions, and sales plans for all GM areas.
  • Drive fulfillment sales by leading the Fulfillment team to fulfill each order accurately and efficiently.
  • Drive a culture centered in food safety; train, validate, and coach team to deliver proper execution on all food safety standards and cleaning routines.
  • Lead an efficient operation to fund the sales culture.
  • Create a guest-obsessed culture that prioritizes the guest experience and delivers on store sales goals.
  • Assess all GM and Food & Beverage backroom and sales floor areas, walking Food & Beverage Standards to assess priorities in food and review GM/Food reporting to identify gaps and develop a plan to resolve.
  • Plan, lead, and follow-up on organizational and operational change.
  • Anticipate and identify changes in unique store trends.
  • Develop and coach your team to elevate their skills and expertise.
  • Establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management.

Requirements

  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong interest and knowledge of the Food & Beverage business.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity.
  • Ability to manage conflict, lead, and hold others accountable.
  • Ability to relate well with and interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis, decision making, financial and quantitative analysis.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to current technology needs.
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
