About the position

As the Executive Team Leader Human Resources at Target, you will play a pivotal role in championing change and building diverse and inclusive talent strategies that align with our guest-centric mission. Your primary focus will be on leading a team of HR Experts and Team Leaders, ensuring that they are equipped to support both team members and business leaders in creating a sales force that is passionate about exceeding guest expectations. This position requires you to spend a significant amount of time on the sales floor, acting as a consultant to your peers and identifying opportunities to propel the business forward. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and managing HR strategies and goals, delivering results through your team. You will need to interpret financial reports and data, understand federal, state, and local employment laws, and possess skills in recruiting, selecting, and managing talent. Your ability to coach and consult with business leaders will be crucial in growing the business and developing their teams. You will also need to influence across various levels of the organization, from hourly team members to senior leaders. A typical day as an Executive Team Leader HR will involve leading a service culture that prioritizes guest service, demonstrating a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and driving total store sales. You will plan and lead organizational changes, anticipate store trends, and leverage guest insights to enhance the shopping experience. Building a culture where teams love to work and guests love to shop will be a key focus, as will recognizing and rewarding outstanding performance. You will also engage with the community, support leadership in creating equitable experiences, and develop a team of HR Experts who can solve problems and engage team members effectively. Your responsibilities will include managing operational and cyclical programs related to culture, pay, and rewards, establishing accountability through clear expectations, and ensuring compliance with safety and ethical standards. You will also be a key carrier, addressing store needs and performing other duties as required by the business.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and create a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development and modeling inclusive behaviors.
  • Drive total store sales and understand your role in sales growth and profitability.
  • Plan, lead, and follow-up on organizational and operational change.
  • Anticipate and identify changes in unique store trends.
  • Know and assess the competition; leverage guest insights to drive business.
  • Champion a culture where teams love to work and guests love to shop.
  • Build teams committed to continuous learning through ongoing observations and reinforcement of guest-service and sales behaviors.
  • Support the leadership team in ensuring equitable experiences and promoting a culture of inclusivity.
  • Engage and educate store team on Target's community initiatives.
  • Build relationships with the store's community to address local needs.
  • Leverage gift card and volunteer accounts to enhance brand awareness and engage team in volunteerism.
  • Take an active role in the development of leaders to champion a guest-centric culture.
  • Lead an open-door culture where team members feel heard and issues are resolved quickly.
  • Support leadership with creating schedules that fit both guest and team member needs.
  • Decrease fluctuations within team member schedules by developing a staffing strategy.
  • Guide store leaders in hiring and onboarding talent with the right skills.
  • Develop a team of HR Experts and Team Leaders to solve problems and engage team members.
  • Effectively plan and manage all team operational and cyclical programs.
  • Develop and coach team leaders to elevate skills and expertise.
  • Establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management.
  • Provide service and a shopping experience that meets guest needs.
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance.

Requirements

  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity
  • Ability to manage conflict and hold others accountable
  • Ability to relate well with and interact with all levels of the organization
  • Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis and decision making
  • Ability to perform financial and quantitative analysis
