About the position

As an Executive Team Leader Service & Engagement at Target, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the guest experience by leading a team dedicated to service excellence. Your primary focus will be on creating a welcoming environment that exceeds guest expectations through effective engagement and service recovery strategies. You will be empowered to make shopping effortless for guests at various service points, including checklanes, guest services, and drive-up services. This position requires a strong understanding of retail business fundamentals, including sales trends, inventory management, and guest shopping patterns, which will enable you to drive sales growth and profitability across the store. In this role, you will build and manage a team of passionate Guest Advocates and Service and Engagement Leaders. You will be responsible for recruiting, training, and developing your team to ensure they are equipped to provide exceptional service. Your leadership will involve setting clear expectations, providing continuous education opportunities, and fostering a culture of accountability and recognition. You will also engage in meaningful development conversations with your team members to support their career growth within the Service and Engagement path. A typical day will involve anticipating staffing needs, managing schedules to align with peak traffic times, and responding to guest feedback to drive improvements in service delivery. You will utilize guest survey tools to identify areas for enhancement and coach your team accordingly. Additionally, you will be the champion of Target's physical and digital offerings, ensuring your team is knowledgeable about promotions and services that enhance the guest experience. Your ability to manage conflict, lead by example, and maintain a positive team culture will be essential to your success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Build a team of passionate and knowledgeable Guest Advocates and Service and Engagement Leaders who strive to exceed guest service expectations.
  • Drive total store sales and understand your role in sales growth and how your departments contribute to total store profitability.
  • Anticipate staffing needs and talent plan for both long and short term.
  • Manage leaders to ensure training completion and provide continuous education opportunities.
  • Engage in consistent and meaningful development conversations with team members.
  • Personalize recognition and appreciation to reinforce critical guest service behaviors.
  • Establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management.
  • Quickly respond to any negative guest shopping experience and ensure your team feels supported.
  • Own schedules that follow the scheduling allocation and guidelines to support peak traffic times.
  • Manage the store experience by reacting with urgency to staffing or scheduling needs based on guest traffic and sales fluctuations.
  • Be the champion of physical and digital offerings to enhance the shopping experience.
  • Utilize guest survey reporting tools to drive change in key areas impacting guest experience.
  • Lead the team to deliver an efficient and hassle-free guest pick-up experience.

Requirements

  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • Ability to manage conflict and hold others accountable
  • Ability to relate well with and interact with all levels of the organization
  • Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis and decision making
  • Ability to learn and adapt to current technology needs
