About the position

As an Executive Team Leader Specialty Sales at Target, you will play a pivotal role in driving sales and enhancing the guest experience across various specialty departments, including Apparel & Accessories, Beauty, and Electronics. Your primary focus will be to lead a team of specialized consultants who provide tailored suggestions and solutions through active selling and compelling visual merchandising presentations. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about retail and have a strong desire to create a guest-obsessed culture within the store. You will be responsible for managing multiple specialty businesses, ensuring that your team is well-equipped to meet the needs of our guests while achieving sales goals. In this role, you will gain valuable knowledge of guest service fundamentals and retail business operations, including department sales trends, inventory management, and pricing strategies. You will also have the opportunity to develop your leadership skills by managing a diverse team, creating schedules, and planning workloads to align with business priorities. Your ability to assess competition and leverage guest insights will be crucial in driving business objectives and ensuring that Target remains the destination of choice for our guests. A typical day will involve driving total store sales, creating a guest-centric culture, managing merchandising and pricing workloads, and leading your team to deliver inspiring visual moments throughout the store. You will also be responsible for onboarding and developing your team, establishing a culture of accountability, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. This dynamic position requires flexibility in scheduling, as you will need to work early mornings, evenings, overnight shifts, and weekends to meet the demands of the business and our guests.

Responsibilities

  • Drive total store sales and understand your role in sales growth.
  • Create a guest-obsessed culture and lead your team to prioritize the guest experience.
  • Create schedules and make adjustments as needed to align to guest traffic and business needs.
  • Manage your team to effectively plan merchandising and pricing workload including transitions, revisions, sales plans, sampling and promotions.
  • Know and assess the competition and leverage guest insights and feedback to drive the business.
  • Work a schedule that aligns to guest and business needs, including early morning, evening, overnight shifts, and weekends.
  • Build a team of consultants knowledgeable and passionate about Apparel and Accessories, Beauty, and Electronics.
  • Manage and develop a sales force using selling training techniques.
  • Lead backroom processes, organization, layout, and replenishment of the sales floor to ensure product availability.
  • Lead your team to deliver inspiring visual moments in various departments.
  • Ensure fitting rooms are welcoming and used as an extension of the sales floor.
  • Plan, lead, and follow-up on organizational and operational change.
  • Anticipate and identify changes in unique store trends.
  • Anticipate staffing needs, talent plan, and recruit both long and short term.
  • Develop and coach your team and Team Leaders to elevate their skills and expertise.
  • Establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management.
  • Provide service and a shopping experience that meets the needs of the guest.
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; lead and hold the team accountable to work in the same way.
  • Address store needs such as emergency and regulatory visits.

Requirements

  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity.
  • Ability to manage conflict and hold others accountable.
  • Ability to relate well with and interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis, decision making, financial and quantitative analysis.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to current technology needs.
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
