About the position

As an Executive Team Leader in Specialty Sales at Target, you will play a pivotal role in driving sales and enhancing the guest experience across various departments, including Apparel & Accessories, Beauty, and Electronics. Your primary focus will be to create a guest-obsessed culture, ensuring that your team prioritizes the needs and satisfaction of our guests while achieving store sales goals. You will be responsible for managing a team of specialized consultants who provide tailored suggestions and solutions through active selling and compelling visual merchandising presentations. This role requires a deep understanding of retail business fundamentals, including department sales trends, inventory management, and guest shopping patterns, which will enable you to effectively plan and execute strategies that drive profitability. In this dynamic position, you will be tasked with creating schedules that align with guest traffic and business needs, managing merchandising and pricing workloads, and leveraging insights from competitors to enhance our offerings. You will also be responsible for recruiting, selecting, and developing talent within your team, ensuring that each member is knowledgeable and passionate about their respective areas. Your leadership will be crucial in fostering a culture of accountability, ethical conduct, and compliance, while also addressing any store needs that arise, such as emergency situations or regulatory visits. The role is not just about managing tasks; it’s about inspiring your team to deliver exceptional service and creating an environment where guests feel welcomed and valued. You will lead by example, demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills, and will be expected to adapt to the fast-paced nature of retail, especially during peak times such as weekends and holidays. Your ability to manage conflict, make informed decisions, and analyze financial data will be essential in achieving success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Drive total store sales and understand your role in sales growth and how your departments and team contribute to total store profitability.
  • Create a guest-obsessed culture and lead your team to prioritize the guest experience and deliver on store sales goals.
  • Create schedules and make adjustments as needed to align to guest traffic and business needs.
  • Manage your team to effectively plan merchandising and pricing workload including transitions, revisions, sales plans, sampling and promotions.
  • Know and assess the competition and leverage guest insights and feedback to drive the business and be the destination of choice for our guests.
  • Work a schedule that aligns to guest and business needs (this includes early morning, evening, overnight shifts and weekends).
  • Build a team of consultants that are knowledgeable and passionate about Apparel and Accessories, Beauty and Electronics.
  • Manage and develop a sales force using selling training techniques.
  • Lead A&A, Beauty and Electronics backroom processes, organization, layout and replenishment of the sales floor to ensure product is available for guests.
  • Lead your team to deliver inspiring visual moments in A&A, Home, Baby and other seasonally relevant areas.
  • Ensure fitting rooms are used as an extension of the sales floor and are welcoming.
  • Plan, lead and follow-up on organizational and operational change.
  • Anticipate and identify changes in unique store trends.
  • Anticipate staffing needs, talent plan and recruit - both long and short term.
  • Develop and coach your team and Team Leaders to elevate their skills and expertise.
  • Lead team onboarding, learning and help close product knowledge and skill gaps through development, coaching and team interactions.
  • Establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management.
  • Provide service and a shopping experience that meets the needs of the guest.
  • Always demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance; lead and hold the team accountable to work in the same way.
  • Address store needs (emergency, regulatory visits, etc.).
  • As a key carrier, follow all safe and secure training and processes.
  • Perform all other duties based on business needs.

Requirements

  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity
  • Ability to manage conflict, lead and hold others accountable
  • Ability to relate well with and interact with all levels of the organization
  • Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis, decision making, financial and quantitative analysis
  • Ability to learn and adapt to current technology needs
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
