About the position

As an Executive Team Leader Specialty Sales at Target, you will play a pivotal role in driving sales and enhancing the guest experience in our specialized departments, including Apparel & Accessories, Beauty, and Electronics. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about retail and have a knack for leading teams to success. You will be responsible for creating a guest-obsessed culture, ensuring that your team prioritizes the guest experience while achieving store sales goals. Your leadership will be crucial in managing the merchandising and pricing workload, as well as planning and executing sales strategies that align with business priorities. In this role, you will gain valuable knowledge of retail business fundamentals, including department sales trends, inventory management, and guest shopping patterns. You will also have the opportunity to develop your skills in recruiting, selecting, and managing talent, as well as creating business-specific strategies to drive performance. Your ability to assess competition and leverage guest insights will be essential in making your departments the destination of choice for our guests. A typical day will involve driving total store sales, creating schedules that align with guest traffic, and managing your team to effectively plan merchandising and pricing workload. You will lead your team in delivering inspiring visual moments and ensuring that the sales floor is well-organized and stocked. Additionally, you will be responsible for onboarding and developing your team, establishing a culture of accountability, and addressing any store needs that arise. This role requires flexibility in working hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, to meet the demands of the business and our guests.

Responsibilities

  • Drive total store sales and understand your role in sales growth.
  • Create a guest-obsessed culture and lead your team to prioritize the guest experience.
  • Create schedules and make adjustments as needed to align with guest traffic and business needs.
  • Manage your team to effectively plan merchandising and pricing workload including transitions, revisions, sales plans, sampling, and promotions.
  • Know and assess the competition and leverage guest insights and feedback to drive the business.
  • Work a schedule that aligns with guest and business needs, including early morning, evening, overnight shifts, and weekends.
  • Build a team of consultants knowledgeable and passionate about Apparel and Accessories, Beauty, and Electronics.
  • Manage and develop a sales force using selling training techniques.
  • Lead backroom processes, organization, layout, and replenishment of the sales floor to ensure product availability.
  • Lead your team to deliver inspiring visual moments in relevant areas.
  • Ensure fitting rooms are welcoming and used as an extension of the sales floor.
  • Plan, lead, and follow-up on organizational and operational change.
  • Anticipate and identify changes in unique store trends.
  • Anticipate staffing needs, talent plan, and recruit both long and short term.
  • Develop and coach your team and Team Leaders to elevate their skills and expertise.
  • Establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management.
  • Provide service and a shopping experience that meets the needs of the guest.
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; lead and hold the team accountable to work in the same way.
  • Address store needs such as emergency and regulatory visits.

Requirements

  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity
  • Ability to manage conflict and lead others
  • Ability to relate well with and interact with all levels of the organization
  • Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis, decision making, financial and quantitative analysis
  • Ability to learn and adapt to current technology needs
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
