About the position

As an Executive Team Leader in Specialty Sales at Target, you will play a pivotal role in driving sales and enhancing the guest experience across various departments, including Apparel & Accessories, Beauty, and Electronics. Your primary focus will be to create a guest-obsessed culture, ensuring that your team prioritizes the needs and satisfaction of our guests while achieving store sales goals. You will be responsible for managing a team of specialized consultants who provide tailored suggestions and solutions through active selling and compelling visual merchandising presentations. This role requires a deep understanding of retail business fundamentals, including department sales trends, inventory management, and pricing strategies, to effectively lead your team in meeting and exceeding sales targets. In this dynamic position, no two days will be the same. You will drive total store sales by understanding your role in sales growth and how your departments contribute to overall profitability. You will create schedules that align with guest traffic and business needs, manage merchandising and pricing workloads, and leverage guest insights to enhance the shopping experience. Additionally, you will be responsible for recruiting, selecting, and developing talent within your team, ensuring that they are knowledgeable and passionate about the products they represent. Your leadership will extend to planning and executing operational changes, anticipating staffing needs, and establishing a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management. You will also ensure that the store environment is welcoming and inspiring, with a focus on visual merchandising and maintaining an organized sales floor. As a key carrier, you will follow all safety and security protocols, addressing any store needs as they arise. Responsibilities

  • Drive total store sales and understand your role in sales growth and how your departments contribute to total store profitability.
  • Create a guest-obsessed culture and lead your team to prioritize the guest experience and deliver on store sales goals.
  • Create schedules and make adjustments as needed to align with guest traffic and business needs.
  • Manage your team to effectively plan merchandising and pricing workload including transitions, revisions, sales plans, sampling, and promotions.
  • Know and assess the competition and leverage guest insights and feedback to drive the business and be the destination of choice for our guests.
  • Work a schedule that aligns with guest and business needs, including early morning, evening, overnight shifts, and weekends.
  • Build a team of consultants that are knowledgeable and passionate about Apparel and Accessories, Beauty, and Electronics.
  • Manage and develop a sales force using selling training techniques.
  • Lead backroom processes, organization, layout, and replenishment of the sales floor to ensure product availability for guests.
  • Lead your team to deliver inspiring visual moments in relevant areas.
  • Ensure fitting rooms are used as an extension of the sales floor and are welcoming.
  • Plan, lead, and follow-up on organizational and operational change.
  • Anticipate and identify changes in unique store trends.
  • Anticipate staffing needs, talent plan, and recruit both long and short term.
  • Develop and coach your team and Team Leaders to elevate their skills and expertise.
  • Lead team onboarding, learning, and help close product knowledge and skill gaps through development, coaching, and team interactions.
  • Establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management.
  • Provide service and a shopping experience that meets the needs of the guest.
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; lead and hold the team accountable to work in the same way.
  • Address store needs such as emergency and regulatory visits.

Requirements

  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity.
  • Ability to manage conflict, lead, and hold others accountable.
  • Ability to relate well with and interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis, decision making, financial and quantitative analysis.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to current technology needs.
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
