About the position

As an Executive Team Leader Specialty Sales at Target, you will play a pivotal role in driving sales and enhancing the guest experience in our Specialty Sales departments, which include Apparel & Accessories, Beauty, and Electronics. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about retail and have a knack for leading teams to success. You will be responsible for creating a guest-obsessed culture, ensuring that your team prioritizes the guest experience while achieving store sales goals. Your leadership will be crucial in managing a diverse team of consultants who provide tailored suggestions and solutions through active selling and compelling visual merchandising presentations. In this role, you will gain valuable knowledge of retail business fundamentals, including department sales trends, inventory management, and pricing strategies. You will also be tasked with setting and planning monthly and quarterly workloads to support business priorities, managing a team to deliver on sales goals, and leveraging insights from competitors to drive business objectives. Your ability to manage multiple specialty businesses and balance team member expertise will be essential in effectively leading your departments. A typical day will involve driving total store sales, creating schedules that align with guest traffic, and managing your team to effectively plan merchandising and pricing workloads. You will also be responsible for leading backroom processes, ensuring product availability, and delivering inspiring visual moments in various departments. Your leadership will extend to developing and coaching your team, establishing a culture of accountability, and addressing store needs as they arise. This role requires flexibility in working hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, to meet the demands of the business and our guests.

Responsibilities

  • Drive total store sales and understand your role in sales growth.
  • Create a guest-obsessed culture and lead your team to prioritize the guest experience.
  • Create schedules and make adjustments as needed to align to guest traffic and business needs.
  • Manage your team to effectively plan merchandising and pricing workload including transitions, revisions, sales plans, sampling and promotions.
  • Know and assess the competition and leverage guest insights and feedback to drive the business.
  • Work a schedule that aligns to guest and business needs, including early morning, evening, overnight shifts and weekends.
  • Build a team of consultants knowledgeable and passionate about Apparel and Accessories, Beauty and Electronics.
  • Manage and develop a sales force using selling training techniques.
  • Lead backroom processes, organization, layout and replenishment of the sales floor to ensure product availability.
  • Lead your team to deliver inspiring visual moments in various departments.
  • Ensure fitting rooms are used as an extension of the sales floor and are welcoming.
  • Plan, lead and follow-up on organizational and operational change.
  • Anticipate and identify changes in unique store trends.
  • Anticipate staffing needs, talent plan and recruit - both long and short term.
  • Develop and coach your team and Team Leaders to elevate their skills and expertise.
  • Lead team onboarding, learning and help close product knowledge and skill gaps through development, coaching and team interactions.
  • Establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management.
  • Provide service and a shopping experience that meets the needs of the guest.
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance; lead and hold the team accountable to work in the same way.
  • Address store needs (emergency, regulatory visits, etc.).
  • Follow all safe and secure training and processes as a key carrier.
  • Perform all other duties based on business needs.

Requirements

  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity.
  • Ability to manage conflict, lead and hold others accountable.
  • Ability to relate well with and interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis, decision making, financial and quantitative analysis.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to current technology needs.
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
