About the position

As an Executive Team Leader in Specialty Sales at Target, you will play a pivotal role in driving sales and enhancing the guest experience across various departments, including Apparel & Accessories, Beauty, and Electronics. Your primary focus will be to create a guest-obsessed culture, ensuring that your team prioritizes the needs and satisfaction of our guests while achieving store sales goals. You will be responsible for managing a diverse team of consultants, each specializing in different areas, and will leverage their expertise to optimize sales and merchandising strategies. In this role, you will gain valuable knowledge of retail business fundamentals, including department sales trends, inventory management, and pricing strategies. You will also be tasked with setting and planning the monthly and quarterly workload for your departments, aligning your team's efforts with business priorities. Your ability to assess competition and leverage guest insights will be crucial in driving business objectives and making your store the destination of choice for guests. A typical day will involve creating schedules that align with guest traffic, managing merchandising and pricing workloads, and leading your team in delivering inspiring visual presentations. You will also be responsible for onboarding and developing your team, ensuring they have the necessary skills and product knowledge to excel in their roles. As a key carrier, you will follow all safety and compliance protocols, addressing any store needs as they arise. Your leadership will foster a culture of accountability, ethical conduct, and exceptional service, making every guest interaction a positive one.

Responsibilities

  • Drive total store sales and understand your role in sales growth.
  • Create a guest-obsessed culture and lead your team to prioritize the guest experience.
  • Create schedules and make adjustments as needed to align with guest traffic and business needs.
  • Manage your team to effectively plan merchandising and pricing workload including transitions, revisions, sales plans, sampling, and promotions.
  • Know and assess the competition and leverage guest insights and feedback to drive the business.
  • Work a schedule that aligns with guest and business needs, including early morning, evening, overnight shifts, and weekends.
  • Build a team of consultants knowledgeable and passionate about Apparel and Accessories, Beauty, and Electronics.
  • Manage and develop a sales force using selling training techniques.
  • Lead backroom processes, organization, layout, and replenishment of the sales floor to ensure product availability.
  • Lead your team to deliver inspiring visual moments in relevant areas.
  • Ensure fitting rooms are welcoming and used as an extension of the sales floor.
  • Plan, lead, and follow-up on organizational and operational change.
  • Anticipate and identify changes in unique store trends.
  • Anticipate staffing needs, talent plan, and recruit both long and short term.
  • Develop and coach your team and Team Leaders to elevate their skills and expertise.
  • Establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management.
  • Provide service and a shopping experience that meets the needs of the guest.
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; lead and hold the team accountable to work in the same way.
  • Address store needs such as emergencies and regulatory visits.

Requirements

  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity
  • Ability to manage conflict and hold others accountable
  • Ability to relate well with and interact with all levels of the organization
  • Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis, decision making, financial and quantitative analysis
  • Ability to learn and adapt to current technology needs
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
