About the position

As an Executive Team Leader in Specialty Sales at Target, you will play a pivotal role in driving sales and enhancing the guest experience across various departments, including Apparel & Accessories, Beauty, and Electronics. Your primary focus will be to lead a team of specialized consultants who provide tailored suggestions and solutions through active selling and compelling visual merchandising presentations. This position is not just about managing sales; it’s about creating a culture that prioritizes guest satisfaction and fosters a team environment where every member feels valued and empowered to contribute to the store's success. In this role, you will be responsible for understanding and analyzing department sales trends, inventory management, and guest shopping patterns. You will set and plan monthly and quarterly workloads to support business priorities, ensuring that your team is aligned with the store's sales goals. Your ability to manage multiple specialty businesses will be crucial, as you will need to balance team member expertise in each area effectively. You will also leverage insights from competitors to drive business objectives and create strategies that enhance the overall shopping experience for guests. A typical day will involve driving total store sales, creating a guest-obsessed culture, and managing your team to deliver on sales goals. You will create schedules that align with guest traffic and business needs, manage merchandising and pricing workloads, and ensure that your team is knowledgeable and passionate about the products they sell. Additionally, you will lead the backroom processes and organization to ensure that products are readily available for guests, while also planning and executing visual merchandising strategies that inspire and engage customers. Your leadership will extend to developing and coaching your team, establishing a culture of accountability, and ensuring compliance with safety and ethical standards. You will also be responsible for addressing any store needs, including emergency situations and regulatory visits, while maintaining a focus on providing exceptional service to every guest.

Responsibilities

  • Drive total store sales and understand your role in sales growth.
  • Create a guest-obsessed culture and lead your team to prioritize the guest experience.
  • Create schedules and make adjustments as needed to align to guest traffic and business needs.
  • Manage your team to effectively plan merchandising and pricing workload including transitions, revisions, sales plans, sampling and promotions.
  • Know and assess the competition and leverage guest insights and feedback to drive the business.
  • Work a schedule that aligns to guest and business needs, including early morning, evening, overnight shifts and weekends.
  • Build a team of consultants that are knowledgeable and passionate about Apparel and Accessories, Beauty and Electronics.
  • Manage and develop a sales force using selling training techniques.
  • Lead backroom processes, organization, layout and replenishment of the sales floor to ensure product availability.
  • Lead your team to deliver inspiring visual moments in relevant areas.
  • Ensure fitting rooms are welcoming and used as an extension of the sales floor.
  • Plan, lead and follow-up on organizational and operational change.
  • Anticipate and identify changes in unique store trends.
  • Anticipate staffing needs, talent plan and recruit both long and short term.
  • Develop and coach your team and Team Leaders to elevate their skills and expertise.
  • Lead team onboarding, learning and help close product knowledge and skill gaps through development, coaching and team interactions.
  • Establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management.
  • Provide service and a shopping experience that meets the needs of the guest.
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance; lead and hold the team accountable to work in the same way.
  • Address store needs such as emergency and regulatory visits.

Requirements

  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity.
  • Ability to manage conflict and hold others accountable.
  • Ability to relate well with and interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis, decision making, financial and quantitative analysis.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to current technology needs.
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
