About the position

The Executive Underwriter for Environmental (Site Pollution Legal Liability and Contractors Legal Liability) at Liberty Mutual Insurance is responsible for developing and managing a profitable book of business in environmental insurance. This role involves underwriting complex risks, maintaining relationships with brokers, and mentoring less experienced underwriters. The position requires strong analytical skills, effective communication, and a commitment to customer service.

Responsibilities

• Underwrites Liberty Mutual's Environmental products including risk evaluation, structuring of policy terms and conditions, and pricing of insurance programs in accordance with company guidelines.
• Develops and maintains professional relationships with target retail brokers to generate a strong flow of business opportunities and renewal retentions.
• Provides high level of customer service through timely response to broker requests and deadlines, and meets service standards regarding policy and endorsement issuance.
• Develops internal relationships with other company divisions to drive cross marketing efforts.
• Maintains well documented underwriting files for all new and renewal accounts.

Requirements

• Degree in Business or equivalent typically required.
• A minimum of 7 years expected, typically 10 years or more, of progressive underwriting or brokering experience and/or other related business experience such as environmental consulting.
• Proven analytical ability to evaluate and judge underwriting risks within scope of responsibility.
• Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proven track record of developing and underwriting profitable business.
• Must demonstrate comprehension of most complex technical underwriting issues.
• Existing strong relationships with the brokerage community.
• Must be positive, self-motivated, possess strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills; be well organized and have strong negotiation skills.
• Excels in time and task management.
