About the position

The Executive Underwriter or Senior Underwriter position at The Hartford focuses on underwriting and marketing specialty construction professional liability and environmental liability insurance coverages. This role is integral to a team of construction insurance professionals, emphasizing collaboration, customer focus, and innovative thinking. The underwriter will work closely with experienced colleagues to service accounts, identify key agents and brokers, and implement sales and marketing strategies, all while contributing to the company's mission of helping clients achieve their goals.

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite and service accounts for specialty construction professional liability and environmental liability insurance.
  • Identify key construction agents and brokers to enhance business relationships.
  • Implement sales and marketing activities to promote insurance products.
  • Collaborate with team members and experienced underwriters to achieve underwriting goals.
  • Demonstrate a strong customer focus and understanding of Hartford Construction's appetite and strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; candidates with a professional engineering degree (P.E.) in a construction-related discipline are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Executive Underwriter: 5+ years of experience underwriting professional liability, environmental liability, or construction casualty insurance products.
  • Senior Underwriter: 3+ years of experience underwriting professional liability, environmental liability, or construction casualty insurance products.
  • Existing relationships with Texas insurance brokers.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to think analytically about business problems and propose solutions.
  • High energy self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Demonstration of solid time, organizational, and desk management skills.
