As an Executive Underwriter within the Inland Marine sector of the Middle & Large Commercial organization, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the underwriting process and driving sales initiatives. Responsibilities

  • Manage the sales and underwriting process for commercial inland marine accounts.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with agents and brokers.
  • Ensure The Hartford is the carrier of choice for clients.
  • Develop cross-sell and up-sell opportunities within the team.
  • Provide effective account stewardship from strategic planning to operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with industry leaders to drive results and foster a positive team environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • 5+ years of commercial inland marine production underwriting experience for Executive Underwriter title.
  • 3+ years of commercial inland marine production underwriting experience for Senior Underwriter title.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external business partners.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to think analytically about business problems and propose solutions.
  • High energy self-starter with resilience and an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Solid time, organizational, and desk management skills.
  • Goal-oriented with a focus on delivering outcomes.
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and compete to win.
  • Superior technical knowledge and sound decision-making skills.
