About the position

The Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer (EVP/COO) at an Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations and strategic initiatives of the institution. This position is crucial in managing administrative functions, optimizing organizational processes, and collaborating with various departments to ensure the university's efficiency. The EVP/COO plays a central role in strategic planning, policy implementation, and overall organizational success within the context of an HBCU. In this role, the EVP/COO will oversee day-to-day operations to enhance organizational efficiency, ensuring that all departments align their strategies with the institutional goals. The individual will lead and implement strategic initiatives that advance the HBCU's mission, manage administrative functions to ensure smooth university operations, and foster a collaborative and effective working environment across departments. Additionally, as Counsel to the President, the EVP/COO serves as the principal legal advisor to the university's president. This involves providing legal counsel, interpreting laws and regulations, and managing legal risks. The EVP/COO will ensure the university's compliance with relevant legal standards, oversee contractual agreements, and represent the institution's legal interests. This dual role requires exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and effective communication skills to successfully contribute to the growth and success of the HBCU.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 10 years of experience, preferably with an HBCU.
  • Preferred experience with Lean Six Sigma and Jenzebar.
