About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Boys Town is a key leadership role responsible for managing the financial operations of the organization. This includes overseeing financial planning, risk management, record-keeping, and financial reporting. The CFO will play a crucial role in ensuring the organization remains financially sustainable while maximizing the impact of its programs and services. This position requires a dynamic and experienced individual who can develop and implement financial strategies that align with the organization's mission and long-term goals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the organization's mission and long-term goals.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, including the development of financial forecasts and long-term financial plans.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to the Board of Trustees, Executive Leaders, and Operational Leaders.
  • Identify and manage financial risks to the organization, including maintaining adequate insurance coverage and managing investments.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial regulations, as well as nonprofit and hospital industry standards.
  • Manage and mentor the finance and accounting teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Oversee the financial management of grants, including reporting and compliance with donor requirements.
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and the Board Finance and Audit Committee.
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of financial management systems and tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting or related field required.
  • CPA or CMA required.
  • Minimum of 10-12 years of relevant senior financial management and leadership experience, preferably in a nonprofit organization of similar or greater scope.
  • Strong financial acumen and understanding of nonprofit accounting principles.
  • Proficient in financial management software.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Non-profit organization experience preferred.
  • Healthcare experience a plus.
