The Exercise Physiologist position at Virtua Health is a per diem role focused on providing high-quality diagnostic testing and patient care in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation. The role involves program planning, supervision, and conducting various cardiac tests while ensuring patient safety and effective exercise prescriptions. The Exercise Physiologist collaborates with physicians and contributes to performance improvement projects, all aimed at enhancing patient outcomes in a supportive healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Participates in program planning and supervision of cardiac testing.
• Conducts outpatient Treadmill Exercise Stress Tests, Nuclear Exercise Stress Tests, Pharmacologic Stress Tests, and Stress Echocardiography tests.
• Collaborates with physicians to deliver high-quality diagnostic testing and interprets EKGs.
• Establishes individualized exercise prescriptions for patients.
• Assures patient safety in the use of exercise equipment during testing.
• Manages care for patients enrolled in Supervised Exercise Training for PAD and during cardiac testing.
• Assists in hemodynamic and physical measurements for patients.
• Maintains data on patient outcomes and assists in special projects such as community education.
• Evaluates and documents patient's EKG during rest and exercise, including functional capacity and blood pressure response.
• Responsible for all aspects of the PAD program including case management.
• Explains exams to patients and addresses any questions or concerns.

Requirements

• Minimum of one year's experience in a hospital or fitness setting.
• B.S. in Exercise Physiology or Exercise Science from an accredited school or university.
• ACLS certification and completion of an EKG course are required.
• ACSM certification preferred; specialized training in cardiovascular disease or cardiac unit experience preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• M.S. in a cardiac setting preferred.
