About the position

The Exercise Physiologist is responsible for designing, implementing, modifying, supervising, and terminating physical exercise programs for patients at the Life Center. This role includes working with various wellness programs such as Cardiac and Pulmonary Wellness, and involves collaboration with other healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient care. The position requires a strong understanding of exercise physiology and the ability to adapt exercise prescriptions based on individual patient needs and progress.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement exercise programs for patients in the Life Center.
  • Modify and supervise exercise programs based on patient progress and physician recommendations.
  • Participate in initial patient assessments to develop exercise plans of care.
  • Monitor patients' heart rates and blood pressure during exercise sessions.
  • Educate patients on proper exercise techniques and equipment use to prevent injury.
  • Document patient progress and exercise prescriptions in a clear and timely manner.
  • Ensure exercise classes start on time by preparing equipment and monitors.
  • Maintain equipment and schedule repairs as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in exercise science, particularly in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation.
  • BLS and ACLS certification required.
  • Experience working with high-risk populations such as those with morbid obesity, diabetes, and hypertension.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Personal Trainer certification.
  • Experience in community outreach programs.
