About the position
The Expanded Functions Dental Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the dental team at Philly Dentistry, focusing on providing exceptional care and ensuring a positive experience for patients, particularly in pediatric dentistry. This position requires a dedicated individual with a strong background in dental assisting, who can efficiently assist during procedures and manage patient interactions.
Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during various procedures, including examinations, cleanings, and treatments.
- Prepare and maintain treatment rooms, ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are ready for use.
- Perform four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during procedures.
- Manage patient records and medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
- Conduct medical imaging as required, including X-rays and other diagnostic tools.
- Maintain infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for both patients and staff.
- Support front office duties as needed, including scheduling appointments and managing patient inquiries.
Requirements
- Previous experience in dental assisting is preferred, with a focus on pediatric dentistry being a plus.
- Familiarity with dental systems and equipment is essential.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and medical documentation standards is required.
- Experience as a dental receptionist or in managing patient interactions is advantageous.
- Proficiency in medical imaging techniques is beneficial.
