About the position

The Expanded Learning Program Inclusion Specialist at Bay Area Community Resources is a part-time role focused on leading and mentoring youth in an expanded learning environment. The specialist will support students, particularly those with special needs, by providing a safe and inclusive atmosphere that promotes emotional well-being and educational equity. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about education, leadership, and community impact.

Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain the emotional well-being of the students
  • Provide a safe environment for students
  • Assist management/leadership with children experiencing behavior issues and social/emotional distress
  • Facilitate communication between daytime school and the program
  • Support the 'whole child' philosophy and engage with guardians
  • Assist with behavior plans and enforce them during program hours
  • Participate in team meetings regarding students' needs

Requirements

  • Some experience working with students
  • Ability to reliably commute to Oakland
  • Commitment to education equity and leadership
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • 1 year experience working with students with special needs
