The Expeditor for distribution construction at Pike Electric Inc. plays a crucial role in ensuring that jobs issued for construction by customers are expedited efficiently. This position involves a variety of responsibilities, including verifying job packets through site visits, checking and requesting necessary permits, acquiring locates, and ensuring that the bill of materials aligns with job prints. The Expeditor is also responsible for notifying residents and businesses prior to work commencement, managing traffic control requirements, and adhering to various pre-construction best practices. In this role, the Expeditor will collaborate with vendors and suppliers to effectively plan and schedule project support. It is essential to verify that all required permits are received in compliance with local codes and state laws. The Expeditor will analyze the bill of materials to ensure adequacy for the work to be performed, request any missing materials, and notify relevant parties of discrepancies before the work is handed over to the field for execution. Additionally, the Expeditor will lead problem resolution efforts for any issues that arise, identify problems, and escalate them to management as necessary. Input regarding action plans to address long-term issues will also be provided to management. Supporting field construction crews is a key aspect of this position, along with complying with purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures. The Expeditor will locate vendors for materials, equipment, supplies, or services and submit them for approval as suppliers or subcontractors within the organization. Effective planning, organizing, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities are critical to the success of this role. The Expeditor will also be responsible for maintaining accurate project records and files, assembling final job packets, and preparing them for handover to clients.

Responsibilities

  • Verify job packets with site visits and check permits.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required; Associate or Bachelor Degree preferred.
  • Understanding of basic electrical concepts in materials and services.
  • Experience in the utility industry is preferred.
  • Direct experience in distribution line construction and/or services is preferred.
  • Demonstrated computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • High energy level and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
