About the position

The Technical Writing and Editing Internship at ServiceNow offers students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in creating and editing product documentation. Interns will work closely with development teams in an Agile environment, contributing to the accuracy and clarity of technical content while participating in various professional development activities. This 12-week summer internship is designed to help students learn, grow, and make a significant impact in their early careers.

Responsibilities

  • Creating product documentation for end users and system administrators
  • Learning to author in a variety of environments, primarily DITA/XML
  • Researching, writing, and ensuring the accuracy of content that covers current and future releases of our product
  • Working closely with multiple development teams in an Agile environment
  • Conducting peer reviews of documentation
  • Collaborating with other information developers to produce and share content for different types of deliverables (blogs, product documentation, knowledge base, video)
  • Contributing to terminology development in English
  • Aligning English and target language terminology in Acrolinx and XTM
  • Proposing solutions to terminology and grammar issues in Acrolinx that writers or editors report
  • Creating a project related to the tools and processes within the editing team and supervised by a staff editor

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Liberal Arts, Communications, Technical Communications, or related field
  • Up to two years of experience
  • Graduating December 2025, or later
  • Able to work full time for 12 weeks during the summer
  • Ability to provide a solid writing sample demonstrating research, analysis, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to learn highly technical products quickly, using pre-release software and internal documentation
  • Experience working in markup languages such as DITA, HTML, XML, or SGML
  • Ability to obtain information through research, interviews, and experimentation
  • Passionate about writing and improving the writing of others
  • Ability to explain technical concepts in clear and concise prose
  • Ability to interact collaboratively with peers from different cultural backgrounds

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with translation management systems
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies
  • Previous internship experience in technical writing or editing
