About the position

Olsson is seeking an Experienced Civil Engineer to join our Data Center Civil Team in Salt Lake City, Utah. As a part of our multidisciplinary design services, you will have the opportunity to work on some of the largest and most complex engineering-driven projects in the U.S., specifically focusing on hyperscale data center campuses. This role is pivotal in contributing to the design of critical infrastructure that supports technological advancements and connected communities. In this position, you will serve as a project manager on certain projects while also taking on the role of lead design engineer on others. Your responsibilities will include preparing planning and design documents, conducting process design calculations, and developing and maintaining both team and client standards. You will also be responsible for leading quality assurance and quality control efforts, acting as an advisor on complex projects, and coordinating with various teams within Olsson, including professional and technical staff, clients, and other consultants. The role offers flexible work options, including remote and hybrid opportunities, to accommodate diverse working preferences and promote work-life balance. You may also be required to travel to job sites for observation and attend client meetings, ensuring that you are actively engaged in the projects you manage.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as project manager on select projects and lead design engineer on others.
  • Prepare planning and design documents for data center projects.
  • Conduct process design calculations and develop team and client standards.
  • Lead quality assurance and quality control efforts on projects.
  • Coordinate with other Olsson teams, professional staff, technical staff, clients, and consultants.
  • Travel to job sites for observation and attend client meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering.
  • At least 5 years of related civil engineering experience.
  • Proficient in Civil 3D software.
  • Must be a registered professional engineer.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to contribute and work well on a team.
