About the position

Geosyntec is seeking an experienced Civil/Geotechnical Engineer to join their geotechnical engineering and construction management practice in South Florida. This role involves leading innovative projects related to civil and geotechnical infrastructure, including water storage and conveyance systems. The position emphasizes collaboration, mentoring, and project management, making it ideal for a highly skilled individual looking to make a significant impact in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications, and permit applications.
  • Conduct geotechnical engineering analyses such as slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, seismic, and seepage.
  • Review field documentation and laboratory tests of construction materials for accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
  • Manage projects/tasks and support proposal preparation.
  • Perform geotechnical site characterization.
  • Oversee construction quality assurance and field inspections.
  • Manage construction and contractors for large-scale earthen fluid containment and conveyance structures.
  • Lead and participate in project construction meetings, preparing agendas and minutes, and providing updates on construction activities.
  • Review, respond to, and approve contractor shop drawing submittals, change orders, and value engineering proposals.
  • Prepare detailed responses to contractor requests for information and requests for clarification in a timely manner.
  • Analyze construction schedules and critical path management, monitoring construction progress with respect to scheduling and CPM tasks.
  • Verify project completion milestones and contract closeout commissioning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering or a related field (required).
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E. P.G.) (required).
  • At least 8 years of directly relevant experience in a consulting environment or equivalent combination of education and experience (required).
  • Prior experience managing large multi-task civil earthworks and civil construction projects (required).
  • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Windows based software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint) (required).
  • Experience and proficiency in construction management software (e.g., e-Builder) (required).
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments and meeting strict deadlines (required).
  • Excellent writing and communication skills (required).
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel (required).

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in earth science, environmental engineering or a related field (preferred).
  • Previous project management background and knowledge of CPM software (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of relevant geotechnical engineering and computer-aided design software (e.g., Slide, gINT, GEO5 Suite, PLAXIS, AutoCAD, Civil 3D) (preferred).
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers (preferred).
