About the position

The Experienced Clinical Nurse on the Rehabilitation & Neurosurgery unit at MD Anderson Cancer Center is responsible for managing patient outcomes by providing, coordinating, and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. This role significantly impacts the quality of patient care, patient outcomes, and resource utilization in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, an RN license, and at least twelve months of recent RN experience in a medical/surgical or acute care setting. The position requires working night shifts from 7pm to 7am, with rotating weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient outcomes by providing and coordinating clinical aspects of direct patient care.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to impact quality of patient care and outcomes.
• Participate in Evidence Based Practice and hospital-based committees.
• Provide specialized care for neurosurgery, neuro-oncology, and rehabilitation patients.
• Monitor acute care patients and Neuro Progressive Care patients post-surgery.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (required)
• Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN)
• At least one year of clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting (preferred)
• BLS Certification (required)
• ACLS or PALS Certification as required by patient care area (preferred)

Nice-to-haves

• Certification in oncology or other nursing specialty (preferred)
