About the position

The Law Offices of Blake Fulton Quackenbush is seeking an experienced Criminal Law Paralegal to support attorneys in Anchorage, Alaska. This role involves managing legal documents, conducting research, and assisting with case management in a dynamic legal environment. The ideal candidate will possess substantial knowledge of legal procedures and demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Review incoming disclosure statements and breakdown the appropriate documents (i.e., police reports, the complaint, etc.)
• Assist in initiating and engaging in criminal prosecutions
• Investigate and analyze facts
• Plan trial strategy
• Consult with parties, experts, and lay witnesses
• Prepare criminal trials
• Conduct legal research and draft, review, and prepare legal documents, including motions, petitions, opinions, demands, and disclosures
• Handle large volumes of cases
• Prepare initial documents (Notice of Appeal) for the appeal to the courts of appeals, and post-conviction relief proceedings

Requirements

• 1 year of paralegal experience
• Paralegal Certificate
• Experience working as a paralegal in a law firm or legal department in criminal law
• Proficient knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation
• Exceptional research and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex legal information
• Proficient in using legal research databases and other relevant software tools
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively
• Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all aspects of work
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information

Nice-to-haves
