About the position

At BAE Systems, our employees work on the world's most advanced electronics, contributing to critical missions that span air, land, sea, and space. We are dedicated to developing the technology of tomorrow, delivered today, and we believe in drawing strength from our differences to innovate for the future. Our mission, "We Protect Those Who Protect Us," exemplifies our commitment to our customers and the importance of our work. We are currently seeking a motivated Platform DevOps Engineer to join our Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Systems team. In this role, you will help develop systems that sense, control, exploit, and disseminate actionable information to warfighters supporting a variety of missions. As a Platform DevOps Engineer, you will embark on a journey of innovation within BAE Systems' Platform Engineering (PE) group, which manages an on-premises Virtual Cloud Computing Center (VC3). Your primary responsibility will be to automate reliable, sustainable, and optimized services for the VC3 and disconnected environments. Your efforts will ensure application security, scalability, and reliability across multiple security enclaves, supporting the Systems Engineering Digital Ecosystem. Your experience and passion for DevOps practices and tools will be essential in automating processes, streamlining deployments, providing disaster recovery, and improving the overall efficiency of our services. You will be expected to design, implement, and maintain the on-premises cloud infrastructure in accordance with best practices for scalability, security, and performance. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be crucial to define infrastructure requirements and understand application needs. You will also develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for seamless application deployment and continuous integration using industry-standard tools and frameworks. Working in closed area environments, you will deploy tools and train administrators on support and operations activities. Additionally, you will automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring using tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or similar technologies. Monitoring system performance, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing optimizations to enhance system availability, reliability, and efficiency will also be part of your responsibilities. You will implement security measures and best practices to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data and applications, and troubleshoot and resolve production incidents related to infrastructure, networking, and application deployment in a timely manner. Staying up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in DevOps will be essential to continuously improve the infrastructure and development processes.
