About the position
The Environmental Permitting Specialist at Sargent & Lundy plays a crucial role in supporting industry-leading projects in power generation and environmental compliance. This position involves reviewing, evaluating, and implementing federal, state, and local environmental regulatory requirements for various industrial projects, including fossil fuel power plants, nuclear facilities, and renewable energy projects. The specialist will work closely with multi-disciplined project teams to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and contribute to the company's efforts in decarbonization and sustainable energy solutions.
Responsibilities
- Review and implement federal, state, and local regulatory requirements for specific projects.
- Prepare site-specific environmental impact studies for proposed industrial projects.
- Collaborate with project engineers to ensure compliance with environmental requirements in project designs.
- Prepare permit matrices and applications, interfacing with regulatory agencies.
- Draft complex technical reports, including environmental and social impact assessments and compliance audits.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Three or more years of experience in environmental compliance, impact assessment, and/or permitting for complex industrial projects.
- Familiarity with environmental laws and regulations, including NEPA, Clean Air Act, and Clean Water Act.
- Experience in environmental impact assessments and permitting processes.
Nice-to-haves
- Proficiency in ArcGIS and experience in developing interactive environmental maps.
- Certification or coursework in GIS is a plus.
- Experience with AERMOD and preparation of inputs for the software.
