About The Position

The Floorhand position at Patterson-UTI is an entry-level role focused on assisting in day-to-day rig operations. The Floorhand will work closely with the Motorhand, Derrickhand, and Driller, performing essential tasks such as maintenance, cleaning, and supporting drilling activities. This role provides substantial on-the-job training and is critical for ensuring the safety and efficiency of drilling operations.

Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for a minimum of 3.5 hours and up to 12 hours without sitting.
• Comfortable working at heights of 50 ft. or greater for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds independently and repetitively climb steep stairs.
• Prior experience or ability to use heavy-duty handheld and long-handled tools.
• Clear communication skills in English, both verbal and written.

Nice To Haves

• One year or more of stable related work history with any drilling company.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Motorhand, Derrickhand, and Driller in daily rig operations.
• Perform general maintenance and cleaning of the rig and drilling floor.
• Check rig and equipment for safety issues and problems regularly.
• Make drill pipe connections and assist in tripping pipe in/out of the drilling hole.
• Use iron roughneck, slips, and tongs to handle and connect/break sections of drill pipe.
• Assist in rig moves and general assembly and maintenance tasks.
• Inspect safety equipment and PPE for wear and replace as needed.
• Support crew members by carrying supplies and ensuring compliance with safety procedures.
