About the position
The Parts Counterperson is responsible for selling automotive parts to customers, both in-person and over the phone. This role involves assisting customers in selecting the right parts, managing inventory, and ensuring customer satisfaction through effective communication and service.
Responsibilities
- Assist walk-in customers in selecting required parts and suggest companion requirements.
- Pull purchased parts from stock and determine availability for out-of-stock items.
- Answer phone calls, providing price quotes and other information to customers.
- Set up orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pick-up.
- Verify 'will call' and 'back-order' files weekly and manage returns to vendors.
- Assist service technicians in selecting parts needed for repairs in process.
- Order parts not in stock after discussion with service advisor and notify the scheduler upon receipt.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of experience in an automotive parts department.
- One year of sales experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
- Professional personal appearance.
- Ability to work well with the public, sometimes with several customers at a time.
