About the position

The Regional Sales Manager will oversee the strategic planning, direction, and execution of sales activities for a large machine tool distributor. This role involves recruiting, training, mentoring, and leading a team of capital sales engineers and technical staff. The manager will collaborate with the Vice President of Sales to implement strategies aimed at growing regional sales and achieving ambitious goals, while also managing local office operations and ensuring a safe and organized workspace.

Responsibilities

  • Develop annual sales plans and strategies to break into new markets.
  • Lead sales activities to meet or exceed regional targets for unit sales, gross margins, and market share growth.
  • Utilize Salesforce to track opportunities, forecasts, quotes, and team activities, ensuring accountability and regular updates.
  • Set and monitor specific metrics and goals for the sales team, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with customers and vendors to enhance satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the machine tool industry and the company's product offerings.
  • Oversee budgeting and expense management to support organizational goals.
  • Conduct daily travel within the Northern New England region, with some overnight stays.
  • Manage the Dover, NH office in person, ensuring a safe and organized workspace.

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience managing capital sales, ideally in the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong background in supplier relationship management and capital equipment sales.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing or capital sales distribution environments (preferred).
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, including profit and loss statements.
  • Proven leadership capabilities with a history of building and inspiring successful teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to grow market share and achieve financial goals.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce and Microsoft Office Suite.
