About the position

The Experienced Stormwater Compliance Practitioner at Geosyntec will play a crucial role in providing leadership and client development in stormwater permitting, planning, and compliance, primarily for clients in the water sector. This position involves collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team and offers opportunities for project management and mentoring within a supportive and innovative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Managing regulatory compliance and environmental oversight of NPDES permitting.
  • Managing green infrastructure planning and funding, including Safe Clean Water Program support.
  • Task and project management, including conducting environmental inspections for compliance with permit conditions, including NPDES stormwater compliance and other state and federal environmental regulations.
  • Manage and oversee permit implementation for commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities.
  • Effectively stewarding and building client relationships to encourage repeat business.
  • Developing business opportunities with new and existing clients and preparing associated proposals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, biology, or other related degree (required).
  • At least 7 years of direct environmental permitting & planning experience, preferably consulting in the Southern California marketplace (required).
  • Experience in managing permitting, planning, compliance, and environmental oversight of stormwater, groundwater, and surface water projects (required).
  • Experience in water supply, water conservation, and analyses pertaining to local and imported water supply, groundwater banking, and demand management (required).
  • Experience communicating with clients and contractors for SWPPP compliance (required).
  • Excellent writing and communication skills (required).
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel (required).

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in environmental science, biology, or related field (preferred).
  • Certified Professional in Stormwater Quality (CPSWQ), Qualified SWPPP Developer (QSD), or Qualified Industrial Stormwater Practitioner (QISP) certifications (valuable).
