About the position

Professional Engineering Consultants (PEC) is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team in Oklahoma City. As a Structural Engineer at PEC, you will be involved in a variety of market sectors, including Educational, Commercial, Industrial, Health Care, Government, Manufacturing, Retirement Communities, and Federal/Military. The role requires technical competence in key areas such as Steel, Concrete, and CMU design, as well as an understanding of Gravity and Lateral Systems, Load Paths, and Equipment Foundation Design. Familiarity with building codes, including IBC, AISC, ACI, and ASCE, is essential, along with proficiency in calculation software such as RISA and RAM. In this position, you will be responsible for attending client meetings, mentoring junior staff, and executing full project lifecycles. This includes providing initial schematic or concept planning, coordinating staffing needs for projects, leading projects to the completion of construction documents, and ensuring quality assurance throughout the production process. You will also be required to seal projects as necessary, perform construction administration, and prepare reports to present to clients, ensuring that all aspects of the project meet the highest standards of excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Attend client meetings to discuss project requirements and updates.
  • Mentor junior staff and provide guidance on structural engineering practices.
  • Execute full project lifecycles, from initial schematic planning to final construction documents.
  • Coordinate staffing needs for various projects to ensure timely completion.
  • Lead projects to completion, ensuring all construction documents are accurate and comprehensive.
  • Ensure quality assurance throughout the production process by coordinating with staff.
  • Seal projects as required by state regulations and professional standards.
  • Perform construction administration tasks to oversee project implementation.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for clients to communicate project status and outcomes.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering from an accredited college.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in structural design.
  • Possession of a PE and/or SE license, with the ability to obtain an Oklahoma license through reciprocity.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective client interaction.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple project assignments simultaneously.
  • Moderate comfort level with business development activities.
  • High comfort level with servicing client needs and expectations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with business development in the engineering sector.
  • Familiarity with additional calculation software beyond RISA and RAM.
