About the position
The Experienced Tax Accountant position at Thurman Campbell Group, PLC is a full-time role focused on providing comprehensive tax services to a diverse client base. The firm, established in the mid-1940s, aims to enhance its team with a skilled accountant who can work independently and manage multiple projects effectively. The role emphasizes proficiency in tax preparation and client interaction, ensuring that the accountant can meet the specific needs of both individual and business clients.
Responsibilities
- Preparation and review of individual and business income tax returns, including state and federal returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and S corporations.
- Meet with clients for tax planning needs outside of tax season.
- Prepare various tax planning scenarios based on assumptions.
- Research tax matters and provide guidance to clients regarding regulatory agencies.
- Develop and maintain professional rapport with clients.
- Prepare clients' accounting through financial statements.
- Assist clients with their QuickBooks needs, including training and monthly write-up work.
- Provide training and assistance to subordinates for accuracy and completion of tasks.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required.
- CPA certification preferred; EA or CPA eligible is required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience preparing individual, partnership, corporation, and S corporation tax returns.
- Experience with MS Office suite and proficiency with tax preparation software, QuickBooks, and Excel.
- Experience using UltraTax is a plus.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of individual and business taxation, federal and state tax laws.
- Highly motivated individual with the ability to work independently and as a team.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in public accounting (5 years preferred).
- Advanced proficiency in various accounting practice management software, including UltraTax, Practice CS, and Advance Flow under Thomson Reuters.
