About the position
The Veterinary Assistant/Technician position at Companion Pet Clinic North Salem is a full-time role focused on providing high-quality medical and surgical care for small animals and exotics. The clinic is privately owned and AAHA accredited, emphasizing a relaxed work environment and a strong team culture. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience and will be responsible for a variety of tasks including patient care, client education, and laboratory work.
Responsibilities
- Perform blood draws and digital radiology
- Place intravenous catheters (IVC)
- Obtain patient history and vital signs
- Educate clients on pet care
- Document EMR medical notes
- Prepare and explain estimates to clients
- Operate in-house IDEXX lab equipment
- Clean ears and express anal glands
- Administer vaccinations
- Monitor anesthesia during procedures
- Provide ICU nursing care and CPR when necessary
- Assist with dentistry including digital radiographs
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience as a veterinary assistant/technician
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Availability to work Saturdays and Sundays
Nice-to-haves
- Bilingual in Spanish
- Credentialed veterinary technician
- Experience with anesthetic monitoring
- Experience in ICU nursing care
- Knowledge of CPR and CRI's
- Experience in dentistry including digital radiographs
