About the position

As an Environmental Graphic Designer II at CBRE, you will play a pivotal role in our Design Collective studio, contributing to a variety of projects that utilize established design methodologies to create impactful environmental graphics. Your work will be essential in translating our clients' visions into tangible designs that embody their branding and messaging. You will collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams, including architects and interior designers, to develop innovative design concepts that enhance physical spaces across various sectors such as civic, hospitality, retail, and workplaces. In this role, you will engage in strategic planning sessions, ensuring that your design solutions align with project goals regarding scale, timeframe, and budget. You will be responsible for delivering a wide range of graphics, signage, and wayfinding solutions that not only meet but exceed client expectations. Your ability to communicate ideas effectively during client presentations will be crucial, as you will need to demonstrate how to apply a client's brand across multiple mediums and cohesive systems. Additionally, you will leverage your technical skills to oversee the production process, ensuring that your designs integrate seamlessly with architectural plans and spatial designs. This position requires a designer who is not only creative but also possesses a strong understanding of materials, fabrication, and construction within built environments. Your expertise will help guide projects from conception through to installation, making your role integral to the success of our design initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop creative up-front design concepts, environmental graphics, signage, wayfinding, and compelling experiences for physical spaces.
  • Participates in strategic planning sessions and delivers projects across diverse markets including civic, hospitality, retail, restaurants, and workplaces.
  • Delivers design solutions for a wide variety of graphics, branded environments, signage, and way-finding projects that meet project goals, including scale, timeframe, and budget.
  • Communicates ideas clearly in client presentations and to the team, demonstrating the ability to apply a client's brand and design aesthetic across multiple mediums and cohesive systems.
  • Develops and executes technical understanding to final production and through fabrication/installation, ensuring integration with spatial designs and architectural plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Architecture, Visual Communication, or a related field.
  • 5-10 years of post-graduate and directly relevant work experience in environmental graphics.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), CADTools, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, adept at working with integrated teams of architects, interior designers, and other creatives.
  • Ability to draw at scale and work with architectural documentation.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies and industry trends, with a strong desire to share knowledge with the team.
  • Strong work ethic, flexibility, positive attitude, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative setting.
  • Skills in Revit, SketchUp, After Effects, and Adobe Premiere are a significant advantage.
  • Strong sense of materials, fabrication, and construction within a built environment, with typography and illustration skills being a huge plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable, and courteous service to customers.
  • Ability to effectively present information and solve problems involving multiple options.
  • Advanced graphic and presentation skills in Adobe Creative Suite and other relevant design software.
  • Understanding and application of environmental graphic design principles, theories, color, and materials.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with additional design software such as Revit, SketchUp, After Effects, and Adobe Premiere.
  • Knowledge of current trends in environmental graphic design and branding.
