The Experimental CNC Machinist position at Lockheed Martin Space involves planning, fabricating, and testing mechanical devices using precision machine tools. The role is critical in supporting experimental purposes and requires the ability to work with various materials and machine settings to meet exacting tolerances. The position is full-time on-site, operating on a 9x80 schedule with every other Friday off, primarily on the second shift, but may require flexibility to work first shift as needed.

  • Plan the layout, fabrication, and testing of mechanical devices.
  • Set up and operate precision machine tools to create original parts and devices for experimental purposes.
  • Solve problems related to work-holding arrangements, materials, machine settings, and fabrication methods.
  • Perform precision work to exacting tolerances for research engineers in a developmental laboratory.
  • Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process control procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Understanding of G&M code.
  • Experience with Siemens Control Systems.
  • Ability to work varying shifts.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • Experience with Siemens 840D control systems (Celos).
  • Familiarity with Mazatrol.
  • Experience with Mastercam/NX.
