About the position

The Expert, Brand Creative Design Direction, Retail Story Design Global position at NIKE, Inc. is a leadership role focused on innovating and developing seasonal retail campaigns and immersive experiences for Nike's Global Direct retail ecosystem. The role emphasizes collaboration, creativity, and strategic thinking to enhance consumer engagement and elevate the retail experience through design. The successful candidate will lead design processes, manage multiple projects, and work closely with various internal and external teams to deliver impactful design solutions that align with Nike's brand ethos.

Responsibilities

  • Support and partner with the Global Retail Story Design Sr Creative Director to lead seasonal vision and design continuity.
  • Lead a design process focusing on strategy and exploration of color, materiality, texture, spacing, proportion, scale, and environmental use.
  • Ensure project goals align with Nike retail brand and business strategies.
  • Encourage innovative design approaches for consumer experiences through various mediums.
  • Direct the development of presentation materials to communicate design concepts effectively.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure design feasibility and functional needs are met.
  • Drive education and inspiration regarding current and future trends in consumer experiences and technology.
  • Address staffing needs to ensure project demands are met and the team has the appropriate skill mix.
  • Foster innovative thinking, collaboration, and teamwork.
  • Lead design processes to ensure results, timelines, and budgets are met.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive design experience in architectural, experiential, or brand design.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in graphic design, architecture, industrial, or environmental design, or related field.
  • Experience managing a design studio and delivering complex projects.
  • Proven track record of good judgment and meaningful contributions to policy and strategy.
  • Ability to motivate teams and manage ambiguity effectively.
  • Expertise in design skills including concepting, drawing, typography, ideation, color theory, and spatial design.
  • Ability to work independently and guide teams across complex projects.
  • Knowledge of current trends in color, design, art, photography, and experience design in the athletic industry.
  • Expert oral and written communication skills, including presentations to senior management.
  • Ability to work cooperatively across streams and territories.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with emerging technology in design.
  • Familiarity with SketchUp, Rhino, Grasshopper, V-Ray, and Adobe Creative Suite.
