About the position

The Expert Cloud Computing Systems Engineer at Delta Dental of California is a pivotal role that focuses on architecting and enhancing the cloud computing environment. This position requires a technical expert who is adept at system design, programming, installation, and solutions engineering. The engineer will utilize their technical expertise to plan, architect, build, and support cloud solutions, ensuring that the cloud infrastructure is robust, secure, and efficient. The role demands a high level of independence, as the engineer will be expected to work under minimal supervision while managing day-to-day operations and providing engineering support for cloud products. In this role, the engineer will execute strategies for Azure Cloud Engineering, developing and implementing standards and best practices related to cloud solutions. This includes keeping up with patches and updates to enable new functionalities and address any vulnerabilities that may arise. The engineer will lead efforts to provision infrastructure using infrastructure as code tooling, leveraging automation to monitor and orchestrate client environments effectively. Additionally, they will develop and implement cloud standards, DevOps/CICD tool chains, and Standard Operating Environments (SOE) to streamline operations and enhance productivity. The position also involves supporting business requirements by conducting business needs assessments and analyses. The engineer will mentor and train other employees on cloud infrastructure, fostering a culture of learning and development within the team. Furthermore, the engineer will conduct research on emerging technologies to support cloud and infrastructure development efforts, recommending technologies that can increase cost-effectiveness and infrastructure flexibility. Proficiency in working with Kubernetes, Docker, and other container technologies is essential, as well as experience in deploying all Azure PaaS services, including API, AKS, AppService, and FrontDoor.

Responsibilities
