About the position

The Expert Data Systems Engineer at Peraton is responsible for managing and facilitating data transport and ingestion processes, ensuring quality assurance and compliance with security protocols. This role involves collaboration with various teams to architect data flows and support the onboarding of data while adhering to the customer's data lifecycle and governance policies.

Responsibilities

  • Interact and collaborate with the customer's technical POC for data transport and ingest requirements.
  • Facilitate data onboarding through the defined and approved process.
  • Receive and triage data ingest requests.
  • Provide quality assurance (QA) of data ingest requests and validate ingress, transport, conditioning and egress requirements.
  • Validate data metadata, classification and access controls.
  • Architect high-level same and cross-domain data ingest data flows from source to destination.
  • Collaborate with Mission Partner and ISSE / ISSM teams to facilitate the security assessments of system-to-system interconnects.
  • Collaborate with transport and ETL teams to triage, transport and condition one-time and recurring production data feeds.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with Ph.D.; minimum 15 years in lieu of degree.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of customer's data lifecycle.
  • Demonstrable understanding of metadata, classification and access controls.
  • Experience with customer's A&A process.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including ability to function in a customer-facing role.
  • TS/SCI with poly.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of ingest, transport and storage of large structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Understanding of access controls and tools used to implement access controls.
  • Understanding of customer's data governance policies and tools implementing that policy.
  • Experience with accreditation processes, developing required artifacts, coordinating with sponsor infosec, implementing security requirements and remediations.
